Assassin’s Creed Unity is free on PC in tribute to Notre Dame de Paris

The news has been looping on television and radio channels, first in France and then worldwide. Notre Dame de Paris was in flames for several hours before the fire was over, this Monday, April 15. In summary, the roof of the emblematic monument of Paris is completely destroyed, including the arrow, as well as some parts of the vault. The whole world was moved by this event, and to revive the famous cathedral, supporters have poured in from all sides. After the families Pinault and Arnaud, who in total, gave 300 million for the reconstruction, the video-game industry wants to bring its stone to the building. Through a Tweet, Ubisoft said yesterday that it´s donating €500,000 to help rebuild Notre Dame. In parallel, the studio offers until April 25 Assassin's Creed Unity on PC.

This is what the studio said on the official blog:

"When creating the game Assassin's Creed Unity, Ubisoft had the opportunity to build even closer ties with Paris, as well as with all of its historical monuments. Ubisoft has indeed concentrated much of its time and effort on the reconstruction of Notre-Dame, to get closer to the original."

The studio attaches great importance to the historical aspect in the games of the Assassin's Creed series, and for Assassin's Creed Unity Ubisoft has not hesitated to be counseled by specialists and historians. The in-game modeling of the cathedral is said to have taken two years. No wonder then that they plan to use the game's files to help with the reconstruction.
