Dmitri Gloukhovski’s novel, Metro 2033, which had great success amongst players with its FPS videogame adaptation in 2012, sees itself rewarded with a second installment.
This game whose name should have been Metro 2034 in accordance with the book, has been renamed Metro: Last Light by 4A Games’ developers. Yet, it doesn’t impact their wish of keeping the tension and vibes that made the first game a success.
Here you are, incarnating Artyom once again; ready to save a self-destructing world with humans tearing each other apart under internecine wars. You’ll fight all dangers inside and outside Moscow’s subway, still apocalyptic, hostile, and still filled with mutants.
The developer team wishes to make the best impression with graphics reminding us of the first game and fans will be able to enjoy them again.
Gameplay-wise, do not expect huge revolutions in Metro: Last Light. The game keeps Metro 2033's firing phases, infiltration, and role-play, but features a well-balanced rhythm and immersion so the narration’s involvement is just as rewarding as it was in the first game.
