The fifteenth main installment of the Final Fantasy franchise is an open-world action role-playing adventure that takes place on the fictional world of Eos. The Niflheim Empire control every country in the world but the kingdom of Lucis. While Noctis Lucis Caelum, heir to the Lucian throne, is on the way to his wedding ceremony with Lady Lunafreya of the imperial province of Tenebrae as part of an agreement to sign a peace treaty between their countries, his home city is attacked and Niflheim emperor Iedolas Aldercapt steals the only power crystal left in the world from Lucis' capital city. The game mechanics are similar to the ones found on other games of the series,with battle scenes seamlessly integrated into the environments with no load screens or transitions and using the AXB system for combat. Player selects commands directly mapped to buttons on the controller, performing the desired move when pressing the button. The leveling system is similar to the Sphere Grid from Final Fantasy X and the Crystarium system from Final Fantasy XIII. You gain points through combat and finishing quests and then spend those on skill trees divided into multiple branches.
