The game reintroduces Agent 47 and his affiliation with the ICA, an organization that handles assassination contracts worldwide. After several years of successful missions, 47 and his handler, Diana, discover that several recent missions have been targeting a powerful and secret organization known only as Providence. Apparently, ICA was being manipulated by an operative known as the Shadow Client. Who is this mysterious person? What is his motive? Agent 47 must find out before he too becomes a target.

HITMANkicks off the World of Assassination trilogy with an episodic array of missions, each taking place in exotic locations all over the world. Take out criminal masterminds and members of the powerful elite with flawless execution. Experiment with a wide array of methods, from your patented Hardballer handguns to more subtle means like poison or a falling chandelier. 

Travel through a living, breathing environment filled with hundreds of NPCs. You can steal disguises, disappear into a crowd, talk to NPCs, and stealth your way to your target. As usual, suspicious behavior will blow your cover and bring the guards on your tail. The Instinct mechanic also makes a return, allowing 47 to detect guards or useful items in his environment. Finally, HITMAN introduces a new mechanic called “Elusive Targets” wherein you need to eliminate a target within the time limit or they will be gone for good. Succeed, gain extra cosmetic rewards and proof that you are indeed a master assassin.
