INSIDE is game developer Playdead's second puzzle-platform adventure game that allows a journey of one young boy in a dystopic world. INSIDE was also published by Playdead, and it released in June 2016. In the game, the player assumes the role of one youthful boy who's trying to solve various environmental puzzles while avoiding a painful death. INSIDE is a 2.5D sidescrolling video game, with a theme and visuals being the same as Playdead's first game, the 2010 monochromatic puzzle game, Limbo. INSIDE is a 2.5D platform game where one unnamed, red-shirted boy travels and explores a surreal environment that's mostly monochromatic, with colors being used only to highlight specific parts of the environment. The whole nature of INSIDE is dark and gloomy, with almost no music at all except the infrequent musical cues. The player takes control of the boy can walk, run, swim, climb, and use varied objects to overcome any obstacles that are encountered on the way and continue moving on. Later on in the game, the boy acquires the ability to control bodies, which helps in completing come puzzles. INSIDE offers lots of hidden rooms that have glowing orbs inside them, and if all of these orbs are found and deactivated during a playthrough, the player can then unlock INSIDE's alternate, bizzare ending. There are many ways to die in INSIDE, by getting shot with a tranquilizer dart, mauled by dogs, trapped by security machines, blown to bits by shockwaves, or even drowning. As in Limbo, these deaths are shown quite realistically and they are often very graphic. When the boy in INSIDE dies, the game then continues from the most recent checkpoint INSIDE is a tranquil, dark puzzle-platform video game that sends the player on a dangerous journey where mystery and story intervene to provide a rich, intriguing experience.
