Version 1.0 of Yet Another Zombie Survivors Officially Launches

After 3 years in Early Access, Yet Another Zombie Survivors has officially launched version 1.0 today, marking an important milestone for Awesome Games Studio's zombie roguelite. Throughout this time, the development team has continued to update the game and take community feedback into account to expand on the original experience. Version 1.0 therefore not only brings the Early Access period to a close, but also takes the game forward with a significant amount of new content and expanded systems. This is not the end of the road either, as the team has confirmed that Yet Another Zombie Survivors will continue to receive support following its official launch.

Yet Another Zombie Survivors Completes 3 Years of Early Access and Moves to 1.0

Yet Another Zombie Survivors entered Early Access in July 2023 and has gone through a relatively long development journey compared to many other games in the same genre. During this time, Awesome Games Studio continuously expanded the game through updates while also using player feedback to help shape future content. Before its official 1.0 release, the game had already received more than 13,000 reviews on Steam and maintained a Very Positive rating, showing that it had built a sizable player community throughout its long development period.

With version 1.0, the team says the update is roughly equivalent in size to four typical major content updates. The new content starts with Ranger, the ninth Survivor, along with the Bio Lab arena, where players will face stronger enemies and new boss encounters. Boss Rush has also been added as a separate game mode, challenging players to build up their power as quickly as possible before the Final Boss appears at the 10-minute mark.

Another notable addition is Survivors' Camp, a new hub located between runs. Here, players can listen to conversations between Survivors, tune in to the radio, and take on new missions. The Mission system has also been expanded significantly with 15 Main Story missions, 45 Survivor missions, and 19 repeatable missions. The Mission Log allows players to track their progress and replay missions they have not completed, while the Friendship system provides permanent rewards by increasing the amount of Cash and Specialization earned after each run.

Alongside the new content, version 1.0 also expands the character progression system. Survivors can now reach Rank 5, with new skill-tree nodes and synergies, while the number of cross-Survivor synergies has also been increased. The game adds 28 Torments for players looking for tougher challenges, as well as 88 new Achievements and 21 new items.

The full release also comes with a number of technical improvements and balance changes. Awesome Games Studio says the game has received further optimization for loading times and performance, while various aspects related to weapons, enemies, the user interface, and run end screens have also been adjusted. The audio experience has been expanded with new music tracks and sound effects, alongside many other bug fixes.

After three years in Early Access, Yet Another Zombie Survivors has finally completed its 1.0 release. However, Awesome Games Studio emphasizes that this is not the end of the game. The team will continue to release fixes as well as new content in the future, continuing to build the game alongside its community beyond this official release milestone.
