The Elder Scrolls Online is headed into Oblivion in 2021

With the release of Markarth, this year’s final Dark Heart of Skyrim-themed chapter, we have been wondering what The Elder Scrolls Online would hold for us for the year ahead. Zenimax was recently acquired by Microsoft and it was unclear what impact this might have on the game, but the veil has finally been lifted on what is being prepared for 2021 in The Elder Scrolls Online with a trailer shown at The Game Awards.

Longtime fans of The Elder Scrolls series will be delighted to learn that after being able to visit Skyrim, the upcoming content will be focused on the Gates of Oblivion theme. The trailer doesn't reveal any specifics but there are some clues in it and players are already speculating. At least one thing seems certain, we will cross paths with the Daedra. Some people argue that the one seen in the video is none other than Mehrunes Dagon, the Daedra Prince of Chaos. If that turns out to be right, we could potentially cross paths with Mythic Dawn. It's hard to draw conclusions with so little clues, and you have to keep in mind that The Elder Scrolls Online is set about 1,000 years before the other games in the series.

In fact, we also have known thanks to this video that we will soon have more information about Gates of Oblivion, during a livestream that will take place on the Bethesda Twitch channel on January 21, 2021, at 11 p.m. The event will provide more details on the content of Gates of Oblivion and the year to come. There will also be a few surprises during the stream and you will be able to collect gifts by linking your account, including the Viridescent Dragon Frog.

We can't wait to learn more about Gates of Oblivion but we will need to be patient and wait a bit longer to see what developers have in store for The Elder Scrolls Online.
