Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is shaping up nicely, says director
Square Enix has provided a promising update on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, confirming that the highly anticipated conclusion to the trilogy is progressing well — and already features “a lot” of playable content. Despite this encouraging milestone, the game remains in development with no release window yet announced.
In a recent interview with Automaton, series director Naoki Hamaguchi reassured fans that the trilogy’s finale is “shaping up nicely.” He revealed that much of the game is already in a playable state and that the overall direction and form of the project are set. The development team is now focused on refining and polishing what’s in place. While that means players may still have to wait before hearing about a release date, Hamaguchi insisted the project is “moving along right on schedule.”
Sales Momentum and Next-Gen Releases Keep Series Strong

Hamaguchi also discussed the positive performance of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second installment in the remake series. Although its launch sales fell slightly short of expectations, the title has since regained momentum on both PlayStation 5 and PC, earning strong critical acclaim with a Metacritic score of 92.
Meanwhile, the broader Final Fantasy 7 Remake series continues to expand its reach. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, the entry point for newcomers, is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S on January 22, 2026. Hamaguchi encouraged new players to experience the earlier entries on these platforms while anticipating the finale’s arrival.
With Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 still in development but already showing substantial progress, anticipation for the trilogy’s conclusion remains high. Square Enix’s commitment to delivering a polished, high-quality experience suggests that fans’ patience will pay off.
