ITER-8: Tower defense and survival in a dark, Roguelite game
Are you looking for a game that blends roguelite, tower defense, and resource management this March? Coincidentally, on March 9, 2026, ITER-8, was officially released. Developed by fluckyMachine and published by Fireshine Games, ITER-8 is an indie title featuring a mix of three core elements that covers all the fields you are interested in.
Where sacrifice is just a statistic
In ITER-8, you take on the role of "Employee Number 8" at the ITER Corporation, an ultra-pragmatic deep-space mining company. Your mission is to land on the surfaces of alien planets and drill into massive "Pillars" to extract precious minerals. The game's defining feature is its dark humor: the company views you as an entirely expendable asset. If you perish, the next employee will simply step in to continue the work.
The gameplay revolves around a defined loop: Mine – Upgrade – Defend – Repeat. You directly control your character to drill deep into structures and gather materials. The deeper you dig, the rarer the minerals you find will be, but the greater the risks you will have to face. While you are busy digging, waves of enemies (native monsters) will attack your base. You must build and manage turrets to protect the company's assets.
After gathering resources and minerals, you use them to improve equipment, creating faster drills, stronger guns, or reinforced base armor. The Roguelite element lies in the fact that each playthrough is just an "iteration." Upon death, you can carry over certain progress to make future generations of employees even stronger.
Currently, the game is receiving very positive feedback on Steam. Players often compare it to famous titles like Dome Keeper or Wall World, but with a more pronounced action pace and tactical turret focus. If you are curious about the fate of the "Employee Number 8," feel free to use our comparison tool to purchase ITER-8 at the best price.
