Space Marine 3 is in development

Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive have confirmed in a joint announcement that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 is currently in development. The making of Space Marine 3 was expected to happen, but given the success of Space Marine 2 most people thought that the developer studio would focus on the second installment in the series much longer. However, Saber Interactive has stated that it doesn't want to turn the game into a live service by any means, so it is normal for them to move forward to the next project. 

This is great news for the huge player base that supports one of the best games released last year. Space Marine 2 continues to thrill many players with its exciting cooperative campaing, addictive gameplay, and exhilarating PvP. The critically acclaimed third-person shooter rapidly climbed to the top of the charts after it was released and it's still one of the favourite games in the genre. A sequel would give Saber Interactive another opportunity to show its craftsmanship and create a new masterpiece.

Redefining the standards

In the announcement, both companies state that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 will follow the steps of its predecessor to redefine the standards of the genre. Players can expect novelties but the developer studio knows of the tremendous expectations generated by the success of Space Marine 2 and promises to create a bigger and more spectacular game.

"Space Marine 2 has proven to be a transformative game for Saber. It is the culmination of everything we have learned about game development in our 25 years in the business. We are now starting to develop Space Marine 3, a game that carries with it tremendous expectations from our rapidly expanding fanbase. While we will continue to support and grow the Space Marine 2 universe over the coming years, we will take all our learnings and apply them to an even bigger and more spectacular game for the third installment. We view this as an opportunity to create a true love letter to the Warhammer 40.000 universe."

There is no reason to think that Saber Interactive won't be able to pull it off after they surprised everyone with Space Marine 2. However, it will be very interesting to know what kind of approach they take to the franchise for Space Marine 3. Will we see a new chapter of the story of the rivalry between Titus and Leandros?
