Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will soon leave behind its predecessor

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is a brand new enhanced version of the fifth installment in the popular RPG series by Atlus. Not only does it improve many gameplay aspects of its predecessor, but it also adds a brand new storyline that introduces a new demonic faction in the series. You can choose to play the classic story path present in the original or discover the new story featuring the Qadištu, a group of demons whose allegiances, motivations, and objectives are quite far from the ones that the fans of the series are used to.

The announcement of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance was received with joy by the fans for two reasons. The first one is that the first game was available to play exclusively on Nintendo Switch, and it left out many fans of the series who use other platforms to play their favourite titles. The second one is that Shin Megami Tensei V was deemed as not interesting enough by many fans. It was considered a step down from its predecessor in the series, even though the sales were quite ok. However, its renewed version seems to be following a different path.

A very good start

According to Atlus, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance has sold over half a million copies in the first three days after the game's release. That positions the game far above the original Shin Megami Tensei V, which sold about one million copies. Both games together are just above 1,6 million, which proves that the franchise is still quite popular, but the growth potential of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is much higher.

With those numbers in mind, Atlus should be quite happy and ready to keep working on the development of new installments. Meanwhile, the studio is probably quite busy with their next release, Metaphor: ReFantazio which will bring back the beloved Persona series after the summer.
