The Original Yakuza was the worst in the main lineup. It needed a remake, but to it doesn't need to change the whole story of the franchise to be rewritten. If you love the franchise then this is an awesome game. Just maybe not as a starting point for new players.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties has memorable chapters and others that feel weaker. The plot tries to delve into new characters, but doesn't always do so effectively. The combat is well implemented, though I didn't find it particularly addictive. In some stretches, the game feels a bit long or with parts that could have been more dynamic. Still, there are enjoyable aspects, especially if you like the saga and want to continue exploring its universe.

Worthy playing in my opinion. A lot of QoL updates and changes that will please both new and old players alike. One negative thing is that the story did change in some big ways, so that might be a point of contention for some, but it opened up a lot of new paths for the future of the series.

I love how this game develops adult themes while delivering unbridled action. Each character has clear motivations, and there are emotionally charged moments that I've rarely experienced in other action titles. The balance between narrative and gameplay seems to be very well achieved.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 is very close to being the best way to play Yakuza 3 Dark Ties. It's overall very good, with a fun side mode, but some baffling decisions by RGG ruin the experience.

Playing Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties can be a rewarding experience from start to finish. The plot seems to grab from the first hour and each chapter can add layers of excitement, mystery and character connection. After trying the demo, the combat gives a sense that it has a fair learning curve, with visually stunning combos and constant challenges. The cityscapes, side quests and soundtrack make for a complete package that I found cohesive, exciting and very entertaining, keeping my interest.

I'm relatively new to the saga, having started playing it in 2023. I played Yakuza 3 Remaster in 2024. I liked Y3R, but I found it to be one of the weaker installments overall, mainly due to outdated mechanics and combat. Aside from Yakuza 0 (which is still the best), I have a clear preference for the newer Dragon Engine games.

What I appreciated most about this game when testing the demo is how it takes classic elements of the Yakuza saga and enhances them with new nuances. Each mission feels like it has a personality of its own, and the battles, while frantic, never feel random or pointless. The way Dark Ties delves into characters that were previously just props demonstrates an exceptional writing job. On a narrative and playable level, it looks like this title can bring many hours of fun and satisfaction.

I had a good time with Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, despite a few shortcomings. The remake does a good job of modernizing Yakuza 3, with cleaner graphics and a livelier world, even if some of the scenery remains a little dated. The combat system is more fluid and dynamic, with a variety of styles and cool Heat Actions. I love the diversity of activities: between side quests, karaoke, mini-games and running the orphanage, there's never a dull moment. The exploration of Kamurocho and Okinawa remains pleasant, full of little details. The story is pleasant to follow, showing a more human Kiryu, torn between his life at the Okinawa orphanage and the tensions of the yakuza world. Dark Ties brings a darker atmosphere and more nervous gameplay, which I found interesting. The game's lifespan is solid if you take into account the ancillary content.
