Sea of Stars reveals new content coming in the Throes of the Watchmaker DLC

Sabotage Studio officially announced today Throes of the Watchmaker, an entirely new adventure coming to every platform in Spring 2025 as a free DLC for Sea of Stars, the acclaimed turn-based RPG inspired by the golden era of classic 90s RPGs. Details of Throes of the Watchmaker were unveiled as part of Nintendo's Indie World. Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

In Throes of the Watchmaker, Valere and Zale—the two protagonists of Sea of Stars, destined to become the Solstice Warriors who protect the world—revisit one of the most intriguing characters they met during their adventure: the Watchmaker. Valere and Zale venture into the magical world of Horloge's miniature clock. The inhabitants of this land are threatened by a cursed carnival, which will require the Solstice Warriors to adapt to unfamiliar rules to harness the powers of the Sun and Moon fully.

The DLC features a revamped fighting style for Zale, who trades his signature sword to become a skilled juggler, and Valere, who ditches her staff to dazzle as an acrobat. In addition to new areas, music, puzzles, and enemies, the DLC will also introduce a brand-new playable character, the Artificer, a mechanized sharpshooter with lasers.

Sea of Stars' lead composer, Eric W. Brown, will create an exciting new soundtrack for Throes of the Watchmaker, once again collaborating with master Yasunori Mitsuda, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross composer, who returns as a guest with additional original tracks.

Throes of the Watchmaker will follow the local co-op mode update for Sea of Stars, a separate and free addition that will allow three players to journey together through the main adventure. Staying true to the game's roots, the local multiplayer mode will have each player engage in traversal and combat through a new Cooperative Timed Attacks mechanic.

Sea of Stars is set in the same world as The Messenger, Sabotage Studio's first game. The RPG was released last year and met with praise from media and fans before winning awards, including Best Indie Game at The Game Awards. Sea of Stars has captivated over 5 million players and is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
