Resident Evil Village launch date has been leaked

Unexpected leaks happen quite often in the world of video games but sometimes the reasons behind them are far more problematic than a photo taken by some employee or a certain date appearing in a product catalog earlier than it should. This is the case of Resident Evil Village, whose release date has been leaked along with many other data due to a ransomware attack to Capcom.

Capcom's security was breached by a ransomware attack that began on November 2. The Japanese company confirmed the attack a bit later, but it seems that they decided not to pay what the attackers were asking for. Therefore, quite a bit of information was made public last Sunday. As a result of the attack, the personal information of over 350.000 people could have been compromised, including customers, employees, and even shareholders. But there is also quite a bit of information about Capcom's upcoming games that has been revealed. You can check everything that the company considers compromised in the official statement about this matter by visiting this address.

“Investigation and analysis of this incident took additional time due to the targeted nature of this attack, which was carried out using what could be called tailor-made ransomware, as was covered in some media reports, aimed specifically at the company to maliciously encrypt the information saved on its servers and delete its access logs.”

Resident Evil Village is coming next year, but no release date had been confirmed. Now, as a result of the massive leak, we know that the developer aims for an April 2021 launch. Also, the leak confirms that the new installment in the Resident Evil series, which was announced for PC and next-gen consoles, would be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One too. There are also hints about an online game called Dominion, which could be the Resident Evil Resistance version of Resident Evil Village, but we will have to wait until the developers decide to talk about it to find out if that is the case.
