Fly Through Jurassic World in Flight Simulator 2024
After recovering from a rough debut and in a surprising but spectacular twist, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is preparing for its wildest detour yet, into the heart of Jurassic World. Thanks to a creative collaboration between Orbx Studios and Universal Products & Experiences, the world’s most realistic flight simulator is about to welcome dinosaurs, tropical jungles, and crumbling research facilities with the launch of an officially licensed expansion titled "Jurassic World: Archipelago."
A world of dinosaurs
Set before the events of the 2015 film Jurassic World, the expansion brings to life a collection of islands off the coast of Costa Rica, including the iconic Isla Nublar, the mysterious Isla Sorna (also known as Site B), and the rest of the Muertes Archipelago. All five islands are intricately recreated with stunning environmental detail, blending the simulator’s photorealistic visuals with the cinematic atmosphere of the dinosaur franchise. This crossover isn’t just a cosmetic reskin. The DLC is packed with prehistoric life, including towering Brachiosaurus, lumbering Stegosaurus, cunning Velociraptors, and of course, the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex. Flying reptiles like Pteranodons and Dimorphodons add new layers of danger (and beauty) to your low-altitude flybys. And if you're brave or reckless enough to land, you'll spot these giants wandering through jungles, valleys, and even near the ruins of Jurassic Park's infamous facilities.
Pilots will have plenty of opportunities to explore the islands from the sky and on the ground. The expansion includes a set of custom-designed airports and helipads, such as a VIP terminal at Juan Santamaría International Airport and a scenic starting point at Herradura Bay Marina. Dozens of smaller airstrips and pads are scattered across the islands, offering access to some of the most iconic and dangerous locations in Jurassic lore.
While freeform exploration is a major draw, the developers are also introducing structured gameplay elements. These include VIP transport missions, aerial photography tours, and aviation challenges that encourage players to interact with the environment in more meaningful ways. It’s a blend of traditional flight sim realism and blockbuster action that opens up fresh gameplay opportunities for both casual fans and seasoned simmers.
"Jurassic World: Archipelago" is set for release in late August or early September 2025. The DLC will be available for PC, with an Xbox version planned shortly after. This crossover marks a playful shift for a series known for its dedication to realism. While the core simulator remains intact, the Jurassic World add-on offers an alternate sandbox where science fiction and flight simulation merge, proving that even in the world's most serious sim, there's still room for adventure.
