Guilty Gear -Strive- will add a free character on Switch

Arc System Works’ critically acclaimed fighting game, Guilty Gear -Strive-, has announced an exciting update for its upcoming Nintendo Switch release—a free DLC character will be available shortly after launch.

Highly praised by the fighting game community since its debut in 2021, Guilty Gear -Strive- is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch in January 2025. This version will include content from the first three DLC seasons, offering an impressive lineup of 28 playable characters.
 

In a recent tweet from Arc System Works’ official account, it was revealed that Queen Dizzy will join the Nintendo Switch version as part of a free update arriving in February 2025, approximately one month after the game's initial launch on the platform.

Queen Dizzy was previously introduced as a paid DLC character for all other versions of Guilty Gear -Strive-, making this announcement a pleasant surprise for many fans. Most speculate that this decision is due to the Nintendo Switch version lacking crossplay functionality, leading Arc System Works to offer the character for free as a form of compromise.
 

A fan-favorite character

Dizzy has been one of Guilty Gear's most beloved characters ever since her first appearance in Guilty Gear X. Fans are thrilled to finally play as her in Guilty Gear -Strive-. The game’s fourth season will also feature Venom, another returning fan-favorite character, set to join the roster in early 2025. In addition, the season introduces Unika, a brand-new character, alongside Lucy—a highly anticipated collaboration character from CD Projekt Red’s iconic game Cyberpunk 2077, which inspired the popular animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

While it remains unclear whether the remaining characters in the fourth season will be free, it’s likely they will be available as part of a separate paid DLC pack. Regardless, Guilty Gear -Strive- continues to be one of the best fighting games on the market, with each character offering a distinct and engaging playstyle.
