Fatekeeper Arrives in Early Access This June for Players
One of the more intriguing fantasy RPGs quietly starting to appear on players’ radar is Fatekeeper — a first-person action RPG developed by Paraglacial, a studio made up of just 13 developers, and published by THQ Nordic. Instead of aiming for a massive AAA-scale open world, the project is drawing attention through its smaller scope and its clear focus on combat, atmosphere, and adventure.
A first-person fantasy RPG from a 13-person studio is quietly gaining attention
According to the developers, Fatekeeper will launch in Early Access on June 2, 2026. The initial build is expected to include around two hours of content, while the full version is planned to offer roughly 15 hours of gameplay. The Early Access period is currently projected to last around 18 months, giving the team time to continue refining combat systems, balancing progression, and expanding content alongside community feedback.
From the early gameplay footage shown so far, the game leans heavily into an old-school fantasy RPG vibe with:
- First-person exploration
- Melee-focused combat
- Spellcasting
- Action-adventure style progression.
Rather than following the trend of giant survival sandboxes or endless open worlds, Fatekeeper seems more interested in delivering a tighter and more focused adventure built around direct combat and continuous exploration. That approach gives the game a noticeably more classic fantasy feel compared to many modern RPGs on the market today.
THQ Nordic’s involvement has also helped the project gain extra visibility among RPG fans. Over the past few years, the publisher has continued supporting mid-sized and smaller RPG projects with distinctive identities, and Fatekeeper appears to fit comfortably into that lineup.
Of course, it is still far too early to say whether the game will become a major name in the fantasy RPG space. Still, seeing a 13-person studio take on a first-person fantasy RPG centered around melee combat and spellcasting is already enough to make the project stand out in a market increasingly dominated by live-service games and oversized open worlds.
If the Early Access period goes according to plan, Fatekeeper could easily become a hidden gem for players who miss classic-style fantasy RPG adventures.
