Dead Island 2 details its FLESH system

Violence can become something extremely complex, especially in video games that make it one of its best points. Dead Island 2 fits into that category, and Dambuster Studios has managed to turn the act of gruesomely obliterating a zombie almost into a form of art. The key to the sometimes obscene realism of crushing, cutting, burning, or dismembering a walking corpse that lunges at you trying to bite your throat in Dead Island 2 is in its FLESH system (Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids).

Extremely detailed violence

The studio has delved into the way the FLESH system works in a recent interview with Game Informer, and it has revealed that there is much more behind it than it looks. The system procedurally models the type of wound produced by an attack depending on the weapon you use to strike your foe. This goes beyond not causing a massive wound with a small dagger or a scratch with a huge sledgehammer. The type of damage produced depends on many factors, including the type of weapon, the number of times you strike a certain area, and the zombie's overall health. If you strike multiple hits on a certain spot with the appropriate weapon and you could probably tear through muscle and bone to rip a limb off.

Such a detailed level of violence may be disgusting for some, but it definitely adds a touch of realism to Dead Island 2, which is a game that is all about killing zombies after all. The whole point of the game is to let you experience that kind of gruesome violence in a way that makes you want to come back for more.

With its FLESH system and many other interesting features, Dead Island 2 aims to become one of the best zombie games released in recent years and a worthy successor of the first game in the series. The launch of the game is scheduled for April 28, 2023, and you can check out the best deals and buy Dead Island 2 cheap with our comparator already.
