Dead Island 2 gets release date and a gameplay trailer

After long forgotten in limbo, Dead Island 2 has received a release date and a gameplay trailer. The title closed the presentations at Gamescom 2022 as one of the event's highlights.

Besides the official reveal trailer, Deep Silver also shared a video highlighting the gameplay of the second game in the Dead Island franchise, introducing the new mechanics created from scratch and details about the world settings. The first video, a cinematic, features Jacob, one of the higher-than-life protagonists that the player will be able to choose. Humor is instilled in the plot, showing its inhabitants living casually amid a zombie apocalypse.

Soon after the cinematic, they presented a very visceral and gory gameplay trailer. Deep Silver promises a high replay factor, thanks to the cooperative mode for up to three players and an advanced dismemberment system, as shown below by the zombies suffering mutilation in several ways.

The narrative of Dead Island 2

Deep Silver's title is set in Los Angeles. The city is now nicknamed HELL-A. With the acid humor known from the series, players will be able to control six hunters.

In the story, a deadly virus has spread throughout LA. Quarantined, the metropolis finds itself infested, but the playable characters are immune. They take advantage of the undead powers that run through their veins to try to live a mundane life while slicing and shooting away.

Dead Island 2 will arrive on February 3, 2023. The game will have PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC versions. Pre-order is available now, and you can check out the best Dead Island 2 CD Key deals on our comparator.
