FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

: What is the core 'Menace' mechanic that defines the early game loop?
The core 'Menace' mechanic is the 'Infusion' system, where players must strategically decide which of their three starting units to 'infuse' with unique abilities from fallen enemies. This choice dictates your initial combat style and progression path.; How does the 'Synergy' system influence squad composition in Menace?
Synergy is paramount. Units belong to distinct 'Factions' and possess 'Ability Types'. Combining units with complementary Factions and Ability Types unlocks powerful passive bonuses and devastating combo attacks, rewarding careful planning over brute force.; Can you explain the 'Resource Decay' mechanic and its impact on gameplay?
Yes, 'Resource Decay' means that any unspent 'Essence' (the primary in-game currency) at the end of a combat encounter gradually diminishes. This forces players to make immediate, impactful upgrades or purchases rather than hoarding resources.; What is the 'Echo' system, and how does it affect enemy encounters?
The 'Echo' system generates temporary, spectral copies of powerful enemies you've defeated in previous runs. These 'Echoes' add unpredictable challenges and unique modifiers to future encounters, ensuring no two playthroughs are identical.; How does the 'Consequence' system differ from traditional permadeath in Menace?
Instead of outright permadeath, 'Consequences' are permanent, run-altering events triggered by specific actions or failures. These can range from losing access to certain unit types to permanently altering the world map, forcing adaptation.; What role do 'Augments' play in customizing your units?
Augments are rare, powerful modifications that can be socketed into units to fundamentally alter their stats, grant new active abilities, or change their damage types. Finding and strategically equipping Augments is key to overcoming tougher challenges.; How does the 'Environment Manipulation' mechanic work during combat?
Players can interact with specific environmental elements on the battlefield, such as explosive barrels, destructible cover, or volatile energy sources. Using these to your advantage can create tactical openings or turn the tide of a losing battle.; What is the significance of 'Faction Allegiance' and its impact on your choices?
While not a strict faction system, certain units and upgrades are tied to specific 'Allegiances'. Aligning with one Allegiance might unlock powerful faction-specific bonuses but could also lock you out of certain options or even make enemies of other factions.; How does the 'Blight' mechanic progress throughout a run and affect the player?
'Blight' is a creeping corruption that spreads across the map and through your units over time or through specific events. Higher Blight levels increase enemy aggression, introduce hazardous environmental effects, and can even debuff your own units if not managed.; What is the purpose of the 'Rift Shard' currency and where is it primarily used?
'Rift Shards' are a special currency earned through challenging optional encounters or specific achievements. They are primarily used in a unique 'Rift Market' that offers extremely rare unit blueprints, powerful permanent upgrades, or cosmetic items not available through normal gameplay.
