More of an RPG than a Metroidvania. There's not many movement upgrades and backtracking is mostly to find blueprints and materials. Still a good game nonetheless.

The universe is nice, but I found it hard to really get hooked. The gameplay is sometimes a bit heavy-handed, and the exploration lacks pace. Not bad, but not unforgettable either.

I liked the atmosphere and the visual style. The gameplay requires a little patience, but it's cool if you like exploration and darker games.

Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree is a truly valid and solid work, an important exponent of a genre that is too inflated and is progressively losing its novelty factor. Precisely for this reason, Mandragora fails to stand out for its originality or for that sense of uniqueness that one would expect from a work of this kind. Yet its great coherence of gameplay and its almost always spot-on choices manage to frame it as a title that should undoubtedly be given a convincing chance.
