Halo Infinite campaign starts in 2560, just two years after the events of Halo 5: Guardians. The Master Chief is found frozen, adrift in space. Rescued by an unnamed pilot only referred to as Echo 216, the Chief is awakened, and his new destination is the largest Halo installation ever found: Zeta Halo ring, where he's got to save the UNSC soldiers that are stranded there.
With many questions about what's happened over the last few months, how Cortana was defeated, and why the Weapon (a pseudo-Cortana AI) is still around, the Master Chief has to fight a new threat to the last remnants of humanity.
Zeta Halo has been overrun by The Banished, an organization that broke off from the Covenant and is using Zeta Halo as their base of operations. Leading them is Escharum, a charismatic Brute lieutenant to Halo 2's antagonist Atriox. Now, having emerged victorious, the Banished have plans to use the Halo ring to accomplish their goals. The Banished have allied themselves with an entity called the Harbinger, and together they are scouring Zeta Halo for someplace called "The Auditorium."
Forward Operating Bases can be found all over Zeta Halo. You can capture UNSC outposts and use them to fast travel and spawn yourself weapons, vehicles, and reinforcements. With these resources, it's possible for you to assault several unique Banished outposts and assassinate deadly Banished officers to unlock their modified weapons, also rescuing squads of UNSC Marines that will fight alongside you in future battles. Banished troops dynamically patrol the ring in an effort to hunt you down, and no enemy squad is the same as the last. The number, positioning, and weapons of the enemies can change depending on the time of the day it is, but the wide range of weapons and vehicles at your disposal will be more than enough to fight them.
Halo Infinite has all the elements to be considered the best game in the series with all these features and a free-to-play multiplayer mode.
