Ratatan has an official release date
The rhythm-action title Ratatan has officially secured a release date, confirming months of speculation surrounding the long-awaited spiritual successor to Patapon. Developer Ratata Arts, working alongside TVT Studios and publisher Game Source Entertainment, announced that the game will launch globally on July 16, 2026. The release will cover consoles and PC, bringing the project to a broad international audience.
Rhythm and strategy combined for an unforgettable experience
The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer highlighting the game's distinctive blend of rhythm-based command mechanics and roguelite progression systems. Much like its spiritual predecessor, players issue commands in time with the music to control an army of small, expressive creatures. However, the new title expands on that formula with procedurally generated stages, deeper customization options, and online cooperative play, positioning it as both a nostalgic homage and a modern evolution of the genre.
Originally funded through a highly successful campaign on Kickstarter in 2023, the project quickly drew attention from fans eager for a revival of rhythm-strategy gameplay. It later entered Early Access on Steam in September 2025, where player feedback contributed to balance refinements and additional content ahead of the full release. Developers report strong engagement during this testing phase, reinforcing confidence ahead of the July launch.
The game challenges players to maintain rhythmic precision while making tactical decisions under pressure. Units can be customized and upgraded, and each run introduces new variables designed to increase replayability. The game's colorful, whimsical, and musically driven visual identity remains central to its appeal, echoing the charm that defined its inspiration while establishing its own personality.
The title will reintroduce rhythm-command gameplay to a new generation of players while satisfying longtime fans who have waited years for a successor to the classic formula.
