Rainbow Six Siege will launch on next-gen consoles

Yesterday's Ubisoft Forward has been the source of many news about the upcoming games of the French company, but the one that piqued our interest this time is the announcement of the release of Rainbow Six Siege on next-gen consoles. Although it's something that is becoming quite usual for the most popular video games franchises there was no official confirmation about it happening for the competitive first-person shooter. Rainbow Six Siege is quite a relevant game in the scene of esports too, with many competitions all over the world, and there were a lot of players concerned about what would happen in the game when the new consoles were available.

Ubisoft has decided to stop speculation and has confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege is indeed coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with 4k resolution at 120 fps with render scaling, but they also have revealed a very nice surprise. All those that own the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will receive an upgrade to the respective next-gen version for free. You will be able to keep your progression in Rainbow Six Siege too, and there will be crossplay between each family of systems. So PS4 and PS5 players will be able to play together, as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X players.

The only question left, is if the different capabilities of each console will somehow have an effect on the performance of the players while they play Rainbow Six Siege. Although there are people that won't really care about that, it's quite obvious that every bit counts in esports competitions, so these will probably continue to be categorized by platforms.

It's great news for those that love to play Rainbow Six Siege on a console and also for all those that are planning to do it because they can buy the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One at the best price on our comparator and then receive the free upgrade when they get a new console.
