Oddworld: Soulstorm is coming in spring

Last night a new episode of State of Play was broadcasted. This recurring event is used by Sony to announce new features for its games and also reveal new ones. The previous one took place last August ahead of the release of the Playstation 5, and we were able to get information about a lot of games, like the next-gen version of Crash Bandicoot 4, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, or the one that interests us here, Oddworld: Soulstorm.

We could watch a new video commented by Lorne Lanning, Creative Director of the game, who tells us a little more about the gameplay and history of Oddworld: Soulstorm. But other crucial information that was not known until then was also unveiled yesterday, the release date of the game, which is set for April 6 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The best of all is that Oddworld: Soulstorm will be free for all subscribers of the PlayStation Plus service, but only on the next-generation console. The game will also be available on the same date on PC through the Epic Games Store.

In this new video, Lorne Lanning details some of the features that will be present in Oddworld: Soulstorm, starting with the environment, which is defined as being "2.9D", to provide more depth while keeping itself faithful to the platform aspect of the game. We can also see that Abe’s Mudokon companions will not be simple NPCs, and they may be useful in-game to overcome certain obstacles or defeat certain enemies. But the most amazing feature takes advantage of the capabilities of the new Dual Sense, letting you feel Abe's heartbeat in times of stress and suspense, ensuring a high degree of immersion.

It all looks quite promising and we can't wait to get our hands on Oddworld: Soulstorm. As usual, you can find it at the best price on our comparator.
