Can you survive the 64 horrors hidden in The Alley?
The Alley takes the familiar anomaly-spotting horror formula and gives it a nasty little twist: every strange detail is not just something to notice, but something you must judge correctly before the situation gets worse.
A routine walk becomes a supernatural nightmare
Players step into the shoes of Soyeon, a high-school student whose ordinary journey home suddenly turns into an endless maze of dark Korean streets, shuttered shops and increasingly unsettling corners. Armed with a smartphone camera and a bracelet connected to her shaman grandmother, she must investigate unusual events and decide whether each one is truly supernatural or simply a disturbing but possible occurrence.
That sounds simple until the pressure starts building. The Alley includes 64 different phenomena, and spotting them is only half the challenge. Every photograph becomes a dangerous decision, with Soyeon reporting her findings to her grandmother through text messages. Correct answers move the mystery forward, while mistakes allow the pursuing ghosts to become more aggressive. Suddenly, a changed sign, a strange silhouette or an object sitting in the wrong place can feel like the most important thing in the world.
The game shares some DNA with The Exit 8, especially in the way it asks players to carefully study familiar environments for subtle changes. However, The Alley adds more story, active ghost encounters and a stronger focus on investigation. The camera is not a weapon, either. It is simply the tool that forces you to commit to an answer, even when you are not completely sure what you just saw.
Korean shamanism also gives the horror a distinctive identity. The mystery is tied to a family curse, Soyeon’s grandmother and supernatural traditions that make the game feel more specific than the usual haunted corridor adventure. Ordinary urban details gradually become threatening, turning a recognisable neighbourhood into a place where every alleyway feels like a trap.
There is no traditional combat to save you when things go wrong. When a ghost appears, the smartest plan is usually to run, hide and hope your earlier mistakes have not made the chase even harder. That combination of observation, deduction and panic gives The Alley a fun rhythm that keeps players doubting their own eyes.
