Dead Island 2 has a 14-minutes long gameplay trailer
Publisher Deep Silver has released a new trailer for Dead Island 2 close to its release. The video is 14 minutes long and provides an in-depth and guided look at the gameplay. The bloodstained gameplay begins in Bel Air, an upscale neighborhood in Los Angeles. Or, as the game affectionately likes to call it, HELL-A.
The narrator reinforces how the six main characters are infected but immune to the zombie virus. The trailer puts the player in the role of Slayer Dani, described as a foul-mouthed brawler from Ireland with a twisted sense of humor. Dani has an agile style of combat that favors staying mobile. Every Slayer has different personalities, stats, and abilities. Still, Dead Island 2 features a flexible skill system that allows robust customization for every character.
In the trailer, Dani's mission is to reach the Halperin Hotel while facing Standard zombies, such as Walkers, Shamblers, and Runners; Variant, like the grenadier walkers, and Apex crazy-mutated zombies. All enemies boast unique powers and behaviors. Dead Island 2 presents a dismemberment technology known as FLESH, an acronym for Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids, to make the slaughter more satisfying. The trailer shows just how amusing it's to smash and lacerate zombies. In addition to the bloody visuals, the game features locational damage, which increases the damage players deal if hitting an enemy's weakness.
Dead Island 2's weaponry system leaves nothing to be desired. Different melee weapons like katanas and sledgehammers make short work of the zombie horde. Those who prefer guns, and have ammunition to spare, can opt for pistols or assault rifles, essential to trigger traps such as a gallon of gasoline. Distributed throughout HELL-A are workbenches that allow a DYI upgrade system, creating ludicrous weapons such as a flaming katana or an electrified dagger.
The game also features skill cards, which teach Slayers different abilities. In tricky situations, the Slayer can activate his corrupted DNA and trigger Fury Mode, acquiring mutant zombie-like powers. Dead Island 2 is a first-person action RPG set in a hellish yet elegant and vibrant vision of Los Angeles. The series' unique formula of acid humor and over-the-top zombie-killing returns with all the swagger and charisma you would expect from Dead Island.
Players who pre-order any edition of Dead Island 2 will receive the Memories Of Banoi Pack, featuring two unique weapons that celebrate the original Dead Island game and a special skill card. The game will be released on April 21 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
