Darkest Dungeon 2 enters Early Access next month

Let's face it; Darkest Dungeon is not a game that all players love. There are quite a few that can't cope with its stress mechanics, which drive most of the characters into madness one way or another. Exploring the depths of a haunted mansion while facing unspeakable terrors of all kinds is quite a challenge, but seeing how one hero after another is scrapped to progress through the game is not something all players can handle. Fortunately, it's not been enough of a reason to prevent Darkest Dungeon to become quite a popular game, with a massive community of players that have developed plenty of mods for it. Therefore, the announcement of its sequel was received with joy, and now we are quite close to being able to play Darkest Dungeon 2. 

Developer Red Hook has confirmed that Darkest Dungeon 2 will enter Early Access next week. According to an official publication on Twitter, the game will be available on PC via Epic Games Store on October 26th.

Red Hook has been quite secretive about many gameplay aspects of Darkest Dungeons 2, but the studio has revealed enough to confirm that the new game will feature turn-based battles much in the way of its predecessor. It will also take a different approach to the action, with heroes that are less expendable assets and a navigating system that gives more importance to your choices. The turn-based combat system has been redesigned too, and accuracy has been completely removed from the game. All those changes make Darkest Dungeon 2 quite a different game while maintaining the core features of the previous game.

Darkest Dungeon 2 release

Darkest Dungeons 2 is entering Early Access next month, but players won't have access to the game's final version. Those who decide to give it a try will be able to provide some feedback ahead of the release and contribute to its development. Red Hook has not confirmed when the final version of Darkest Dungeon 2 will be available, but it's pretty sure that the majority of the fans are dying to play it already.
