Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer may not be what we expected

CD Project Red has had a very hard time in the last few months due to all the problems caused by the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. Even though it is a great game, it suffers performance issues and is far from what many players expected, especially for those that are playing the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The developer has been focused on fixing all those problems and that has had an impact on their original expansion plans for the game after launch. Even though things are much better in the game now thanks to several patches and updates, CD Project Red will still have to face some lawsuits in the tribunals but the only thing they can do now is continuing to improve Cyberpunk 2077 experience on all platforms and keep adding features as planned.

One of the Cyberpunk 2077 features that have piqued the interest of the fans is its multiplayer. According to CD Projekt joint CEO Adam Kiciński, it was meant to be a sort of standalone product but they may be rethinking their approach to it.

"Previously we hinted that our next triple-A would be a multiplayer Cyberpunk game, but we have decided to reconsider this plan. Given our new, more systematic and agile approach, instead of primarily focusing on one big online experience or game, we are focusing on bringing online into all of our franchises one day. We are building an online technology that can be seamlessly integrated into development of our future games."

Kiciński also revealed that GOG Galaxy, CD Projekt Red's store launcher, will have a prominent role in all this, so we can expect some changes coming to the platform in the future. Nothing has been specified about what kind of features Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer will include, but we hope that everything is properly nailed before they decide to release it, whatever form it finally takes. CD Projekt Red has survived all the problems derived from Cyberpunk 2077 launch so far, but if they mess up another launch it won't probably look pretty for them in the future.
