CD Projekt Red announces a new The Witcher saga
Last year wasn't as good as expected for CD Projekt Red. The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was a mess whose consequences have kept the studio quite busy trying to fix all the problems and getting the game into shape. After a lot of work, now it's more like what it should have been at release, and it seems that the Polish developer has enough time to focus on other projects. What could be better than the franchise that gave it worldwide renown? Yes, we are talking about The Witcher.
According to CD Projekt Red's latest announcement, the studio is working on a new The Wicher saga with the help of Epic Games. Yeah, you guessed right, the new The Witcher game will use Unreal Engine 5 to deliver a completely new type of experience with even better graphics than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
"This is an exciting moment as we're moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, beginning a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. It covers not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant. We'll closely collaborate with Epic Games' developers with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences."
The official announcement reveals a long-term collaboration between both companies. Therefore, it's quite likely that we will be entitled to a new series with several installments. Nothing has been confirmed about it yet, but we can assume that Geralt of Rivia may return as the protagonist.
Based on the huge popularity of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is still considered a masterpiece and one of the best role-playing games of all time, the announcement of a new The Witcher video game has already generated a lot of expectation.

We can safely assume that CD Projekt Red has learned a lot from its errors with Cyberpunk 2077, and we shouldn't be witness to another problematic release, but we will have to wait to know more about the game. But you don't have to worry if you prefer Steam as a gaming platform because the new game won't be exclusive to Epic Games Store.
