Arrowhead offers free Killzone items as apology
A recent incident involving Arrowhead Game Studios' Helldivers 2 has attracted the attention of the gaming community. The anticipation surrounding a crossover event with the popular Killzone franchise quickly became marred by player dissatisfaction over pricing strategies. However, in a commendable response to community feedback, Arrowhead has taken steps to rectify the situation, offering free items while also learning valuable lessons about pricing and player engagement.
The Helldivers 2 and Killzone collaboration launched with immense excitement among fans. However, the excitement quickly turned into frustration when players logged in to find the price for these items in the game’s Superstore exceeding expectations. Priced at approximately $20 in Super Credits for Wave 1 items, players began to rethink how much they would need to spend for Wave 2. Many soon realized that the total cost for all items could amount to around $40, equal to the full price of Helldivers 2. This pricing led to a wave of discontent expressed across social media platforms.
Gamers took to platforms like Twitter and Reddit to voice their concerns over what they perceived as exorbitant pricing for items they felt should either be earned through gameplay or offered at a lower cost. Online comments ranged from disappointment to calls for boycotts, significantly impacting Arrowhead's reputation.
A strategic apology
In light of the mounting frustration, Arrowhead Game Studios took a proactive approach to mitigate the situation. Using the official Helldivers 2 X account, the studio issued a public apology to its players.
Seasons greetings, Helldivers!

Moreover, Arrowhead went a step further by deciding that all players would receive Wave 2 of the Killzone items for free. This gesture allowed players to receive a free Killzone armor, a new cape, a player banner, and two new primary weapons. In addition to this, the developers also decided to extend the availability of Wave 1 items in the Superstore, allowing players more time to purchase these items should they choose to do so.
In any case, don't forget to use our comparison tool to buy Helldivers 2 at the cheapest price and quickly own free Killzone Wave 2 items.
