All those familiar with Total War games know that Creative Assembly adds quite a lot of new factions to their games after release via DLC. It happened with Total War: Warhammer and Total War: Warhammer II and it's the same for A Total War Saga: Troy. Overall, it's a good way of enhancing the content available in each game with new heroes, units, and tactical options. It also allows them to keep the players interested in their games and allows those players to get just the content they want for their games, instead of having to deal with a massive number of options from the start. Of course, you have to pay for those DLCs but that is something that most of us are used to do by now, and the additional content is usually worth the money, in the case of Total War games at least.
That said, a new couple of factions and their respective heroes will be available for the fans of A Total War Saga: Troy in a new DLC this month. Ajax, the giant of Salamis, and Diomedes, King of Argos, give a name to the new DLC pack, which includes a total of 18 new units for the game. The soldiers from Salamis are focused on defense and they wield huge shields. On the other side, Argos brings to the battlefield "well-rounded axe and sword infantry, combined with quick flanking units".
Ajax & Diomedes Faction Pack also introduces a new type of unit, Paragon, which are the veteran version of the respective regular unit but with enhanced capabilities and powers. The DLC also includes the Thebes battle map, four new faction mechanics, and a new special event to conquer Troy (Stealing the Palladium).
If you want to add Ajax and Diomedes to the list of heroes in A Total War Saga: Troy, the new DLC pack will be available on January 28 on Epic Games Store. If you want to play the game on Steam, you will have to wait until August 2021. It should be available on Valve's platform along with all of its DLC by that date.
