The Space Marine Traitor Legions arrive at Warhammer 40,000: Gladius with this expansion. Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Chaos Space Marines introduces them as a new faction that will fight against the servants of the False Emperor fueled by their hatred. The most powerful servants of the Ruinous Powers have been fighting their old allies for ten thousand years and their commitment to the war has not decreased at all. With a wide range of units at their disposal, the Chaos Space Marines will do whatever it takes to claim their revenge against the Imperium.

The armies comprised of Chaos Space Marines have some unique features. Chaos Gods can bestow powerful gifts to Champions that they consider worthy, but they may also be turned into demonic Chaos Spawns. As veterans of the Long War, the Chaos Space Marines have increased morale and melee damage when fighting against Space Marine units. Finally, they can use Population as a resource to perform unholy rites and get temporary boosts from the Chaos Gods.
