Inscryption is a deck-building game that delves into the darkest depths of horror as you navigate through a dark forest. In this roguelike game with touches of psychological horror, you will fight against terrible creatures by using a deck of cards. You can summon animals from your deck that you will sacrifice in order to summon more powerful creatures. As you advance, you will unlock more cards to add to your deck, and you will be able to create more complex strategies. You will deploy your creatures on the battlefield to attack your opponents and their summons, pretty much like in any other card battler. But Inscryption also challenges you with escape room-style puzzles and a lot of nasty surprises that you will encounter as you progress in the game.

Thanks to a very particular dark atmosphere and unique art style, Inscryption is a game where you will never know what to expect. Of course, as in every other roguelike game, dying means that you have to start all over, but every new game will be different. Will you brave the horrors in Inscryption to discover the secrets of the dark forest?

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

If I sacrifice a creature to play another, does the sacrificed creature's sigils immediately activate before it's removed from the board?
Yes, all sigils and effects of the sacrificed creature resolve before it is removed, potentially impacting the current and future turns.
Can I permanently lose a powerful card I've obtained in the cabin section of the game?
Yes, if a card is used in a ritual to create a stronger card, or if it is sacrificed to a puzzle, it can be permanently removed from your deck.
Does the order in which I place creatures on the board matter, considering their attack patterns and the opposing creatures?
Absolutely. Placement is crucial. Many creatures have abilities that trigger on specific spaces or interact with adjacent cards, significantly affecting combat outcomes.
How does the 'bone' mechanic interact with card abilities and deck-building strategies?
Bones are a resource generated by creature deaths. Certain cards cost bones to play or have abilities that activate when you have a certain number of bones, adding a layer of risk and reward.
Are there any cards that can directly manipulate the rules of the card game or the game board itself?
Yes, some cards possess abilities that can break the game's rules, allowing you to manipulate the board, directly attack the opponent's 'hand,' or gain unexpected advantages.
How do the different card tribes (e.g., beasts, insects, etc.) influence the gameplay and deck construction?
Tribes often synergize with specific card abilities and sigils, encouraging players to build decks around particular creature types for powerful combos and strategies.
Can I 'win' the game by simply playing powerful cards, or is there more strategy involved?
While powerful cards are helpful, victory often requires understanding the opponent's strategies, anticipating their moves, and utilizing strategic card placement and resource management.
Are there any 'hidden' or 'secret' card interactions that are not immediately obvious from the card text?
Yes, there are many hidden interactions and secret combinations, often revealed through experimentation or exploration, that can drastically change the game's dynamics.
How important is it to adapt my strategy during a single run of the game, considering the evolving challenges?
Adaptability is key. As the game progresses, you will need to adjust your deck and tactics based on the cards you find, the opponent's strategies, and the challenges presented by the environment.
Does the act of creating new cards, via combining or modifying existing cards, introduce unforeseen risks or advantages?
Yes, creating new cards can be a high-risk, high-reward mechanic. Combining cards can lead to extremely powerful creations but could also result in a weaker card or the permanent loss of resources.
