Total War: Warhammer III will completely change sieges

We already had the opportunity of watching some of the factions that will take part in the final fight for the destiny of the Old World in Total War: Warhammer III through a series of videos. They focused on the troops and special units of Grand Cathay and Kislev, which will oppose hordes of demons and Chaos Warriors under the command of the four Chaos Gods as they take the fight to the Realm of Chaos itself. The Ruinous Powers will prove to be merciless, and players will need to devise cunning strategies in order to defeat them. Total War: Warhammer III will introduce other elements than new scenarios and troops to the series, and Creative Assembly has published a new video that delves into the new siege mechanics that will be present in the game.

Sieges have always been a controversial element of the games in previous games in the series. Some players find them repetitive and a bit boring in Total War: Warhammer and Total War: Warhammer II, mainly because of the lack of táctical options and variety when it comes to fortress sieges. The new game will feature a wider variety of scenarios, with different layouts, number of walls. Certain units will be able to damage walls, not only the gates, which will allow for more offensive options. Also, the defenders will be able to build up new structures, including traps, barricades, and towers. The result is a more complex siege system with plenty of táctiucal options more, where you will have to take advantage of your troops' capabilities in order to maximize your chances of winning.

Of course, if you are not into this kind of strategic challenge, you can always skip the battle and get the final results just by clicking a button, but every player with some experience in Total War games knows that it's far more entertaining to command the troops yourself.
