This RTX 5090 from ROG Packs 5kg of Actual Gold
ASUS has created what may be the most costly graphics card globally. We're not referring to the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab Edition. Instead, ASUS has crafted an ROG graphics card containing 5kg of pure gold.
The unveiling of this graphics card took place at Bilibili World 2025 in China, where @realVictor_M captured numerous photos of the card. Weighing 7.2 kg, this golden ROG Astral RTX 5090 is likely the priciest graphics card available. The gold content of this GPU alone amounts to $400,000.
For perspective, the typical retail price of a standard RTX 5090 is around $2,000, but they are hard to find for less than $3,000, even six months post-launch. ASUS, recognized as Nvidia’s top AIB partner, produces three variations of the 5090: TUF Gaming, Astral, and Astral LC (liquid-cooled). The golden card discussed today is based on the quad-fan, air-cooled model of the Astral, which typically sells for about $3,500 on Amazon.
It's clear that the leap from $3,500 to $500,000 is staggering, but merging an overvalued GPU with a highly valuable material creates what can be viewed as an extreme capitalist entity.

From a performance standpoint, this graphics card is expected to function like any other ROG Astral RTX 5090. Due to its substantial weight, anyone utilizing this GPU should consider investing in sturdy GPU supports. After all, without support, this 7.2kg graphics card is likely to sag. If not supported, the GPU's weight could potentially damage any motherboard it's attached to or harm the PCIe slot of the GPU.
What fate awaits this GPU following the event? We suspect that ASUS might opt to melt down its golden components to recover its investment. Nonetheless, there are likely some billionaires eager to possess the world's most extravagant graphics card.
