Nvidia’s upcoming ‘Double D’ GPU is now the ‘5090D V2,’ leak reveals
Earlier this year, Nvidia’s graphics card designed exclusively for China, the RTX 5090D, vanished from retail shelves in the country. We now understand that this was a result of new export regulations from the US that restrict the AI capabilities of PC exports to that region. To replace this GPU, Nvidia has introduced the RTX 5090D v2 graphics card, which aims to bypass these US export restrictions once more.
Previous leaks had indicated that this new GPU would be called the RTX 5090 DD. However, it seems Nvidia has officially chosen the name RTX 5090D v2. This GPU is expected to have specifications very similar to those of Nvidia’s RTX 5090D, with the primary difference being its memory setup. Instead of featuring 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit memory bus, the new GPU will offer 24GB of memory on a 384-bit memory bus, reducing both memory bandwidth and capacity by 25%.

At this time, it remains unclear how this altered memory configuration will affect the gaming performance of Nvidia’s new GPU. The decreased memory bandwidth will surely influence the AI capabilities of the GPU. However, we have yet to determine whether these memory restrictions will significantly affect gaming performance.
The original RTX 5090 D closely resembled its non-D version. The only notable distinction was the adjustments made to its AI inferencing performance, which had no impact on gaming tasks, rendering the alteration inconsequential for gamers. With the introduction of the GPU’s new v2 iteration, its reduced memory performance could potentially influence gaming tasks. Nonetheless, this GPU will still significantly outperform Nvidia’s RTX 5080, the fastest GPU currently available in China.
While the RTX 5090 sets a new benchmark for peak performance, exceptional power is not the sole option in the market. The RTX 5080 showcases impressive next-generation features, rapid ray tracing, and support for DLSS 4—all at a more budget-friendly price point. Whether you’re building a high-end system or upgrading your existing setup, the RTX 5080 offers premium gaming and creative performance that is within reach.
