ASUS unveils a new ROG Matrix RTX 5090 to celebrate its 30th anniversary

To mark the 30th anniversary of ASUS graphics cards, ASUS ROG has introduced its most formidable graphics card yet, the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090. This 3.8-slot RTX 5090 GPU incorporates a custom cooling solution, innovative overclocking options, and various enhancements that showcase its dominance in the GPU market. This could potentially be the most powerful RTX 5090 ever constructed.

This graphics card can be powered using either a 12V-2×6 connection or ASUS’ BTF power connector. When builders utilize both connectors, they can unlock an exclusive 800W overclocking mode, which purportedly provides a “10% performance increase.” If accurate, this would make it the most powerful RTX 5090 GPU on the market.

Equipped with a 3.8-slot cooling solution and four Axialtech fans, this GPU employs liquid metal as its Thermal Interface Material (TIM) and incorporates a “patented vapor chamber” design that enhances heat dissipation. Additionally, ASUS has designed the Matrix's cooling system with “more condensed fins” to further elevate its cooling efficacy. With its red accents, the new design of the ROG Matrix GPU pays homage to the classic red color scheme of the ROG brand. Although this GPU supports Aura Sync RGB lighting, it is fitting for it to display traditional ROG RED lighting, despite the availability of other color options.

With the introduction of the ROG Matrix GPU, ASUS has made a bold statement. They have implemented distinctive solutions to engineer the most powerful RTX 5090 graphics card currently available. However, this GPU's peak performance is limited to users who have a BTF motherboard. Furthermore, a sufficiently robust PSU is necessary to allocate 800W to a single graphics card.

ASUS has not yet disclosed pricing or final specifications, such as memory clock; however, we expect it will also come factory overclocked. The card has yet to undergo thorough testing in professional overclocking laboratories for serious tuning. Given that production is limited to just 1,000 units, it remains to be seen whether anyone will pursue extreme overclocking records with this card.
