The Sinking City 2 Locks In Its Official Launch Date
The Sinking City 2 just witnessed some major updates by Frogwares. The game is at the finish line, and pre-orders are officially live right now! Let's walk through some of the features that brand new sequel to The Sinking City will offer.
A completely shift in gameplay and story
The game’s official release date is locked in for August 18, 2026. It will be launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you want to test it out ahead of time, there is currently a playable demo available on Steam.
Unlike the first game, which leaned heavily into detective work, the sequel is shifting gears to become a full-on, resource-lean survival horror game with a focus on combat, tight inventory management, and exploration.
You will play as Calvin Rafferty, an occultist and adventurer navigating a semi-open-world version of Arkham in the 1920s. The game is set in a city that is completely drowned by a supernatural flood. As Calving, you will try to save your girlfriend, whose soul was trapped in the Dreamlands following a ritual gone wrong.
The game still keeps the classic investigation mechanics from the first title, but they are entirely optional. Solving puzzles and finding clues will yield lore, open hidden routes, and unlock weapon upgrades rather than advancing main story progression.
Frogwares revealed that they made a late-stage decision to upgrade the entire project to Unreal Engine 5.8 to ensure better optimization and performance gains at launch. This will significantly improve player experience compared to the first part of the game.
With the new approach to the gameplay, the story, and the upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.8, the game promises to deliver an enhanced game experience.
