Tekken 8 will feature crossplay

In the last few weeks, Bandai Namco has released quite a few gameplay videos showcasing some of the characters that will be present in Tekken 8 at launch. From Kazuya Mishima to Asuka Kazama, we have seen plenty of different combat styles, and new martial arts combos and moves, but we are yet to see any new character, and it's unclear if the developers are planning to add such a novelty in Tekken 8.

An eagerly awaited feature

Fortunately, Tekken 8 will be having a completely new feature that many players have been requesting for a while: crossplay. The possibility to fight against players from other platforms is something that will widen the range of opponents you will encounter in the game. The announcement of such an addition has been made by Tekken 8 game director Katsuhiro Harada via Twitter, where he also stated that it's something they've been wanting to implement for some time but it was denied for security reasons.

“Crossplay? Of course, I will.”

“When the previous generation consoles were released, I had already proposed crossplay between the two platformers. However, at that time, they were at odds with each other over their mutual interests (and P2P security issue) and repeatedly refused.”

With all the novelties coming in Tekken 8, including the enhanced graphics, new visual style, HEAT system, and others, Bandai Namco will need to sell more than 10 million copies to surpass its predecessor. Considering that Tekken 8 has generated a huge hype among the fans of the genre so far, it may be possible.
