Resident Evil 4 in its last stages of development

Resident Evil 4 in its last stages of development

It’s going to be a big year for survival horror games, thanks in part to the upcoming Dead Space, Silent Hill 2, and of course, the much-awaited remake of Resident Evil 4. Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has announced that Resident Evil 4 is now in its last stages of development and the team is working feverishly to hit the March 24 release date. If our luck holds, we’ll be seeing the finished product without any delays. Check out the Resident Evil 4 gameplay trailer now:

Twenty-fourth time’s the charm

Speaking with Famitsu, Hirabayashi said that the game, which has been rated Mature in Japan for its violence, gore, and “dismemberment of enemies,” is in its “final spurt of production,” with the development team “working hard to provide you with more information about Resident Evil RE:4 in preparation for its release on March 24th.”

One particular item players would like to know more about is the “in-game purchases” mentioned in the rating. Fans speculate that this is a clue for a built-in multiplayer mode. We’ll find out more as launch day approaches.

Despite the updated graphics and engine, Resident Evil 4 is expected to remain faithful to its story and characters, with Leon S. Kennedy, Ashley Graham, and Ada Wong making a return. However, some fans may attest that the remake’s faithfulness isn’t necessarily a good thing, as a controversial part of the game is also coming back. The island in the final act of the original Resident Evil 4 is considered by many to be the weakest part of the game, a location that simply doesn’t compare to the village and castle areas that came before. Capcom has since addressed the matter and said that there will be “a lot more” to the island than what was initially at play. Again, we’ll have to wait and see how this turns out.

Resident Evil 4 launches on March 24, 2023. Check out the best prices for a Resident Evil 4 Playstation 5 code from our comparator ahead of the release.
