The Legend of Zelda has been one of Nintendo's most important flagships since the Japanese company produced its first console. The story involving Link, Gannon, and Princess Zelda has evolved a lot over the years and we have seen many chapters in the different Zelda games. There is no doubt that the most popular game of the series so far is Breath of the Wild, but it's been quite a long time since the fans are waiting for a new installment in the series. We could see some footage of the sequel to Breath of the Wild during E3 2021, but it didn´t even have a title at that time. Yesterday, Nintendo finally surprised us with the official announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
As a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will have Link as the protagonist of a new epic storyline that will take him to Hyrule's skies. The video does not reveal too much about the story but it seems that our favorite hero will visit an unexplored part of the kingdom composed of flying islands. Of course, the fans are already creating theories about the game and its possible plot.
So far, the only thing sure about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is that there is a huge community waiting for its launch, which will take place on May 12th, 2023. The series will continue to be exclusive to Nintendo consoles, and the sequel will be available only on Nintendo Switch.
