Is there a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game in development?

Star Wars going through one of its best moments. It must be said that the license is so popular today, and comes in so many different ways, that it's hard to go long without hearing about it in one way or another. Last week it was Star Wars Battlefront II that was in the spotlight thanks to Epic Games Store offering the game for free, which created some server issues in the process. This week, it's another licensed series that is now the focus of new rumors, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

It looks like a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) installment is currently in development.  This may be even more surprising for you if we tell you that it's not EA who is in charge of it. The information comes from Bespin Bulletin, a media specializing in Star Wars news. The topic was addressed on a recent podcast and even if all of this is to be taken with a grain of salt, it looks like Bioware isn't on the project either. Jason Schreier spoke on the subject too in December, and this is what he said regarding the studio in charge of development: "No one will guess, that's for sure."

Obviously, given Ubisoft’s recent announcement that they were working on a Star Wars game, we could quickly be tempted to make the connection with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. But Shinobi602, a rather well-known insider who is renowned for the quality of his information, said this in a response to a user on the Resetera forum: “It's not as mysterious as you imagine, it is just that the name of the studio is not very well known to the general public.”

The Ubisoft hypothesis, therefore, seems to have been swept aside. Unfortunately, we will not have the end of the story today, and we will certainly have to wait a few more months before we know what is all this about.
