Machinefall Lands on Steam With a Massive 64GB RAM Requirement
If you are tired of the same old copy-paste strategy formulas and want something that actually pushes your PC to its absolute limits, there is a brand-new indie game on Steam that you need to put on your radar immediately.
Released on July 10, 2026, Machinefall is a post-apocalyptic RTS created by solo developer Jan Zizka. At first glance, it looks like a cool love letter to classic sci-fi survival. But once you look under the hood, you will find a massive, continent-spanning monster of a game that blends the nerve-wracking horde defense of They Are Billions with the planetary scale of Planetary Annihilation.
And yes, you read that system requirements sheet correctly. To run this bad boy smoothly at recommended settings, you are going to need a massive 64 GB of RAM.
Earth is Your "Sandbox" (literally)
The biggest selling point of Machinefall is its incredible sense of scale. The entire game takes place on a fully playable, 3D replica of Earth. You start with a tiny pocket of survivors in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, struggling to reclaim the planet from an overwhelming swarm of mechanical bugs and massive robotic worms.
What makes Machinefall insane is the seamless zoom. You can pull all the way back to an orbital satellite perspective to manage your global logistics, then instantly scroll down to street level to micromanage a single squad of soldiers defending a barricade. As you fight back the swarm, you will progress through different technological eras, dragging humanity from primitive, basic tools all the way up to advanced atomic and space-age weaponry.
Machinefall is currently sitting at an impressive 89% positive rating on Steam. Players are calling the gameplay loop incredibly addictive. There is nothing quite like starting a base in Germany, slowly expanding across Europe, and eventually setting up supply lines across the ocean to the United States.
Overall, if you are looking for a sandbox game with high-end graphics, then this game might be just for you. Please make sure to use our comparison tool to purchase Machinefall at the cheapest price!
