Let's Get Biopunky with Deep Fringe
Imagine this: You live in a biopunk wasteland ravaged by an apocalypse, filled with toxic tumors, spore swarms, larva hordes, bio-modified enemies, and rival mercenaries. What will you do? Well, you will find the answer in a brand-new hardcore tactical RPG: Deep Fringe.
Toxic Biopunk Wasteland: Mutated Ruins and Faction Warfare
Developed by Bosoneon Studio and being published by Thousand Generation, Deep Fringe made it to Early Access on Steam on the 15th of January, 2026. The game is a blend of nostalgic pixel art aesthetics with deep turn-based strategy gameplay, set in a biopunk post-apocalyptic wasteland. The game's art is heavily inspired by classic hardcore tactical RPGs like Tactics Ogre, Battle Brothers, and Warhammer.
Deep Fringe features turn-based combat with hex-grid maps and energy-based action points. On the map, the players can switch between top-down (global overview) and isometric (terrain height/details) views.
The core hook of this game is that there will be terrain interaction: players can modify, destroy, or replace grid elements (e.g., push heavy objects off heights, collapse ceilings, and create elevation advantages), as well as reshape battlefields dynamically.
The game features a single-player campaign (~14+ hours at launch), side quests, and expeditions. Your choices will shape a story with multiple endings. The game also features squad management mechanics with fully customizable units (mechs, drifters, and cyborgs with upgrades, stats tracking, and unique abilities), so players can face multi-grid bosses confidently.
Overall, if you are looking for nostalgic pixel art aesthetics and biopunk post-apocalyptic vibes in a grim, hardcore tactical RPG, Deep Fringe is for you. Please make sure to check out the game and use our comparison tools to buy Deep Fringe at the best price available. Enjoy the biopunk wasteland madness.
