Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree receives an epic story trailer

The Lands Between promises to be shaken by the arrival of Shadow of the ErdtreeElden Ring's DLC set to release on June 21st for all platforms where the game is available. With a brand-new trailer, FromSoftware has highlighted the game's narrative in an epic fashion. The story will introduce an unprecedented chapter in the Land of Shadow, featuring even more perilous dungeons, bosses as challenging as those in the base game, and, of course, an immersive experience in uncharted territory.

As shown in the video, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will reveal more details about the fate of Miquella, Malenia's brother, who will play a central and benevolent role. On the other hand, Messmer is practically confirmed as the main villain, appearing with his fiery red hair amidst the flames. Although the trailer is cryptic and has left Elden Ring fans even more puzzled, it's evident that the world created by Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin is incredibly expansive and still has much to offer. Therefore, it's no surprise that FromSoftware is open to making new games in the world of Elden Ring.

In terms of gameplay, as Hidetaka Miyazaki mentioned, players will encounter a difficulty similar to the second part of the base game, indicating that FromSoftware has prepared a unique challenge for its community. According to him, the area of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be roughly the size of the Limgrave map. However, when asked about the duration of the DLC, Miyazaki declined to comment. He mentioned that when he previously stated Elden Ring would have an average duration of 30 hours, many players accused him of lying, so this time, he chose not to answer the question.

FromSoftware is not only famous for having an enviable lineup of games but also for releasing announcements and games during times that intimidate other developers. Elden Ring was released in the same week as Horizon Forbidden West, and many say the latter was overshadowed because of it. Naoki Yoshida, director of Final Fantasy XIV, mentioned that he postponed the release of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail to avoid launching in the same week as Elden Ring's DLC.

If there's something this shows us, it's that other developers both respect and fear the power and success of FromSoftware's games, especially the 2022 GOTY. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree arrives on June 21st for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. If you want to secure your copy, check out our discounts on Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and prepare to journey to the Land of Shadow.
