The Elden Ring hype train continues to roar towards its launch date, with game producer Yasuhiro Kitao stating that the game has officially gone gold.

Elden Ring's Gold Standard

To clarify, the term “going gold” is a phase in game development wherein the product now has a finalized master version that can be converted into digital and physical copies, making it essentially ready for stores.

It’s been quite a journey for Elden Ring. Described by its writer George R.R. Martin as “incredible, FromSoftware’s game has wowed players from its first trailer to its closed beta test. Leaked footage of its thorough character customization menu has further cemented its reputation. It has since won eight awards without even being released.

How long is Elden Ring’s story?

Kitao also had this to say about the length ofElden Ring:

“This will differ significantly by player, but in terms of the targets set during development, the idea is that the main route should be able to be completed within around 30 hours. The game as a whole is quite massive and contains many dozens more hours worth of gameplay, but if we are talking about the main route only, it shouldn’t take much longer than that.”

Considering that Dying Light 2: Stay Human is boasting of 500 hours worth of gameplay, that sounds like a reasonable length. Have a look at the new footage from the Taipei Game Show here:
