Elden Ring announces Colosseum Free PVP Update

Champions of The Lands Between, assemble! Bandai Namco and FromSoftare announced the free Colosseum Update for Elden Ring, introducing a new PVP mode for all the players to prove who is the most Tarnished of them. The update launches on December 7.

Most FromSoftware games have a very invasive and often non-consensual PvP mode. This changed when Dark Souls Remastered and Dark Souls 3 introduced a dedicated area for the act in the Battle of Stoicism and Hollow Arena format, respectively. However, both were stuck behind the purchase of DLCs. Elden Ring already proves superior to its predecessors by offering this mode for free.

The official game Twitter account announced a trailer alongside what players can expect from the Colosseum:

Come forth, warriors, and bask in the glory of the Colosseum. Prove your worth in various duels and battles, together or on your own in the free Colosseum Update.

In the video, we notice players dueling each other using every available arsenal, such as the Spirit Ashes. In another moment, the clash involves three against three, which promises plenty of frenetic and unstoppable action at the Colosseum. The Japanese company has announced that the battle stages will be the Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid arenas.

Previous leaks already detailed these areas. While exploring the Coliseums, it was possible to find checkpoints and other elements suggesting a future interaction of the locations within The Lands Between. Many speculate that FromSoftware is preparing the ground for the release of Elden Ring DLC, which will be announced at the Game Awards showcase.

Despite the resounding success of Elden Ring, one of the best-selling games of the year and a serious GOTY contender alongside God of War: Ragnarok, the game's director Hidetaka Miyazaki is not resting on his laurels. He claims the game's success will not divert him from FromSoftware's future goals.
