Dragon Age and Mass Effect DLCs now free after EA ends Bioware points
In an email sent to all game owners with Bioware points, Publisher EA has announced that they are putting an end to the system for good. Per the email:
"We're reaching out to let you know that starting October 11, 2022, BioWare Points will no longer be available as a form of currency in the Origin store. Other currencies like Crystals and Platinum in other BioWare titles remain unaffected."
For those not in the know, the only way to purchase DLCs for Dragon Age and Mass Effect was to purchase Bioware points. These came in packs of 800 points each, which weren’t enough to purchase any particular DLC so you would have to purchase more of them. Given the DLCs weren’t perfectly divisible by 800 points, you would tend to have points left over for no reason. They were also not usable for more recent games, such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mass Effect Andromeda, and Anthem.
With the retirement of the Bioware points system, several DLCs for Dragon Age and Mass Effect are now free, namely DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3.

To get them, you would need to log into your Origin account, select the game in your library, click Extra Content, then select the DLC you want to download. For example, Mass Effect DLCs like Lair of the Shadow Broker and Citadel are now available for free.
Any remaining Bioware points will disappear for good after October 11. You can still spend them on Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLCs, which aren’t covered by the system’s retirement.
If you haven’t gotten these games yet, now is the best time to play them ahead of the new Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and Mass Effect 4.
