Destiny 2's expansion The Witch Queen will release in 2022

Amidst great anticipation from Destiny 2fans, Bungie has provided a first look and release date for their newest expansion, The Witch Queen. Initially slated for release in 2021, Bungie has moved the Witch Queen release to February 22, 2022. The expansion will be available on all supported platforms of Destiny 2, including PlayStation 4 and 5, the Xbox One and Series X/S, PC, and Google Stadia.

The latest expansion focuses on Savathûn, the Witch Queen, a god of the Hive and sister of Oryx, the Taken King, and Xivu Arath, the God of War. A being of deception and intrigue, she promises to be a formidable foe for even seasoned Destiny 2players.

However, the update won’t just include Savathûn. Destiny 2 players can also expect to visit her Throne World. In a swamp-filled environment that the goddess can bend according to her desires, players must contend not just with her forces but with lies, illusions, and Savathûn’s dark secrets—mainly, how she and her Lucent Hive stole the power of the Light.

The Guilds will have some help against this new threat thanks to the introduction of weapon crafting. Players may now craft seasonal weapons that have unique mods, shaders, and stats. The Witch Queen will also introduce glaives as a weapon class. Apart from its use in melee, glaives will have the ability to fire projectiles and deploy an energy shield, making it a versatile addition to your arsenal.

According to Bungie, The Witch Queen will bring the conclusion to the Light and Darkness saga.

“The Witch Queen will light the fire on a strongly interconnected narrative across Lightfall and beyond, unlike anything we’ve ever attempted before, with characters, arcs, heroes and villains that persist over multiple future releases.”

The Witch Queen is expected to be a turning point for Destiny 2 in terms of story, graphics, and gameplay, which you can check out in this video:
